One MetropolisCountlessPossibilities

The City of Cities – a place like no other.

Just imagine: employees increasingly like to commute between home and the office – preferably by bike. Students easily find ‘digs’ – except they are not digs, but a real home. Reasonable rents make it possible. At the same time, the university is never far away – there are 22 higher education establishments.

Businesses and investors turn their back on Hamburg, Munich and Berlin, because the real estate prices are so inexpensive and the locations so favourable. Families choose how to spend their free time from countless options – and don’t even have to plan long journeys. That’s surely not possible. Yes, it is. In the ‘City of Cities’!

As if that wasn’t enough, it is also the region in Germany with the best connections, situated in the heart of the country, close to France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. It takes just an hour to fly to Paris, London or Amsterdam. Is it really any wonder that in a nationwide comparison, businesses feel at home here more than anywhere else? The latest study published by Ernst&Young is proof: Essen is top of the list, closely followed by Bochum and Dortmund.
