Dortmund Airport is the Gateway to the East

Two million passengers a year

International air traffic in the ‘City of Cities’ is primarily based at two airports: there is the airport that serves the state capital of Düsseldorf, which is right next to the Ruhr Metropolis, and then there is Dortmund Airport. Every year, around two million passengers – businesspeople and tourists – fly to and from Dortmund.  It serves the whole of Europe, although popular destinations are Bulgaria, Romania, the Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary and Turkey. The third-largest commercial airport in NRW has successfully established itself as the ‘Gateway to the East’. In the departure hall we meet Udo Mager, CEO of Dortmund Airport.
